Caracterización del consumo de agua en población chilena: resultados de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud 2016-2017

BACKGROUND Water is an essential nutrient for cellular homeostasis and life. Drinking ≥ 6 glasses (1.5 L/day) the recommendation of daily water intake (RIAD). AIM To characterize intake, according to sociodemographic, anthropometric lifestyles variables, in Chilean adult population. MATERIAL AND METHODS Analysis data from 5,520 participants 2016-17 National Health Survey. Compliance with RIAD by population groups lifestyle characteristics was studied through logistic regression analyses. RESULTS Only 27.8% national met RIAD. Women, people over than 56 years age, housewives, retired people, widowers, non-smokers were less likely meet The likelihood not complying these segments ranged 28% 62%. Conversely, who presented a higher meeting those co-habiting, had medium educational level, followed diet plan, reported good health well-being. 47% 116%. CONCLUSIONS varied different anthropometric, variables. Therefore, public policies promoting consumption should be focused on all age groups, but especially highest risk underconsumption.
